This comment sounds like it's from the 90s or 2000s. What other options are there in today's overinflated manhattan real estate market? Urban minorities are even used to these suburban chains which at that point aren't even suburban anymore.
Big business has won over mom and pop and it's representative of the unequal power that exists in today's society. Yes it sucks.
Not just talking about the suburban chains, yes it's been trending in this direction since more than 2 decades ago. I am aware but it still sucks. But even until recently many neighborhoods seemed to hold on to some form of uniqueness. I was walking in Chelsea on 8th ave yesterday for the first time in about 3-4 years and boy, how bland it seemed vs just a few years ago. For example, there are hardly any remnants of gay life along the 8th ave. And even if you find a store or restaurant that tries to seem edgy or sell edgy clothes, it's the rich people idea of what edgy looks like.
Yes I know this isn't new, but people hardly talk about it

This is nice for Eric Adams. I don’t know how since he lives in New Jersey but since he is here at some new trashy Target store, might as well support the freedom of liberalness abound.
Let’s all make a Rainbow Commitment to Eric Adams, that this will be the happiest and most dappiest Target alive! We need to make this the Night Club Target, in honor of the night club mayor.
I’m so Happy to have another Target (happy Liberal smile)
By going to Target i can avoid the Walmart people. And by "Walmart people" I mean workers and customers.
Exactly this. I don't think target is amazing or anything but I'll go there 4-5 times a year. I can get a bunch of different things and it's a way better experience than Walmart.
East Harlem Target shuts down tonight. Union Square opens tomorrow. Harlem Target opening TBD
Wasn't that TJs by the Target on 125 supposed to be open by now?
