Looks like Cohen would like to invest 8 billion in a new casino by Citi Field.

Could be a good thing. Especially if hookers become legal in the area, or not, either way could be the next boom for Queens.

Surrounding areas are dumps as is. Corona. Flushing. Northern blvd is like a foreign country of some sort.
I think it’s a great fit.

I’m with you. I hate casinos. But a Barnes&Noble wouldn’t do well there.
Rodeo would probably do well there .

Casino?

Didn't realize that Queens was an economically depressed remote area in upstate new york or the midwest.

They need to hurry up fixing that extremely dumpy area right next to Citi Field. That area makes any ghetto look good.

I can see how the area immediately surrounding CitinField could be converted into an island of shiny tourism. It has nearby the juntion of two of the most important highways in NYC. La Guardia and JFK are within easy access. The most important part of the Corona Medows Park is basically right next to this area. The Flushings/Malcom X Promenade is within walking distance, looks nice and could be made better plus a great place to see the airplanes take off/land at La Guardia.

The area in red could be converted into a new flashy tourism-dining-shopping-hotels-art galleries-family entertainment center. They could add things like cobblestone streets, fancy light fixtures and a very nice urban design. Perhaps making much of the area pedestrian friendly by making many of the streets pedestrian only. A conversion similar to the one Times Square had in the sense that today is nothing like it was in the 1980's. Much of the parking lots of Citi Field could be replaced by one or two large parking garages and then redevelop the current parking lots.

That area has so much potential. It could become the shiny star of Queens. When tourists think of NYC, most of them will think Manhattan and that interesting new place by Citi Field in Queens!

Areas all around Citi Field could be developed to become a major attraction for tourists and locals. Queens has never seen something like it. This area will become a major contributer to NYC's and NY state governments due to all the tax revenue it will produce.

The most interesting part of the Corona Meadows Park is right next to the Citi Field area.

The Flushing Bay/Malcom X Promenade could be redevelop to make it a spectacular boardwalk that includes restaurants, dining and other entertainment; perhaps it could also accommodate a new amphitheater which in the warmer months could host free concerts, free plays and artistical displays, etc. Plus, it's a great plane spotting area. This place would complete the Citi Field area as it's within walking distance.

What could be a new catchy name for this area?

NYC intentionally let that area become blighted. I wonder why? Does Queens need another electronic gaming parlor.?

Sorry it isn't real casino without live dealers, "free" drinks and smoking.

Don't care still going to AC and Vegas.

that whole area of Queens is like a third world country. Perhaps a donkey show would do very well there.

How many casinos do we need in Queens! Good lord. We already have Resorts. What a crapshow that place is. Very depressing place. On one floor you have crazed gambling addicted foreign born mainlanders from China gambling away what little money they have, then on the bottom floor you have poor black senior citizens gambling away their social security checks.
