The South Bronx is starting to go through a change. I drove through there this past summer after not having been there in years. Parts of the Grand Concourse looks very nice. The nicest I have ever seen that road. Probably it looks better than when the road was new. I was also shocked to see Brukner Boulevard with many areas looking as if they were recently redone. It even had flowers and new trees. Even the McDonald's after crossing the tunnel looks it was redone too. Then the new residential highrises in the Bankside area.
The South Bronx still has a long way to go, but the things I witnessed there a few months ago left a positive impression. It isn't the South Bronx Reagan visited in the 1980's. In another decade the changes are going to be even greater.
They need to start working on the area immediately around Yankee Stadium, IMO. That creates such a sharp contrast between a stadium that is quite nice surrounded by neighborhoods that aren't. Even if they don't move the people currently there, avenues like Jerome Ave could use some beautifying.

The area immediately to the northeast of Yankee Stadium is still pretty rough

South Bronx covers a large area. Where would be good for the article to say.
