safe trick or treating neighborhoods? (high school, live in, gangs)

i'm a 14 year old girl and i go to a pretty safe specialized high school in the bronx but i live in manhattan. my friend who lives in the bronx wants me to trick or treat in her neighborhood, pelham bay parkway. i have heard that tomorrow is gang initiation day or something so my mom and i are a bit afraid of me trick or treating there, but she is one of my closest friends so i would like to go with her if possible. my question is, is that neighborhood safe, and is gang initiation day something i should be cautious of?

if not i miiight be able to schedule last minute either in bayside (but there are gangs in queens) or around grand central or battery park/tribeca

you do not need to be 16 year of age, you need to be 13

and bayside is fine, but it's not the easiest place for me to get to could somebody please give me any insight on whether or not its safe to trick or treat in pelham?
