You just cant pick one.

- Most places in the Bronx
- North Brooklyn
- Southern Queens
- Uptown Manhattan

I don't think there is one neighborhood that jumps out at me as the absolute worst.

I'd say Brownsville. My 3 visits there were pretty bad. I have a friend who lives near the Junius Street station on the 3 train and boy was it bad. Almost got robbed a block down from the El...

While my trip was purely anecdotal... The 73rd precinct did record the most murders last year.

By North Brooklyn, you mean like Greenpoint? That area isn't bad at all in my opinion, now it's mostly European immigrants and "Hipsters". The area is only slightly unsafe when the high school school kids come out from that school near Nassau Avenue.

Southern Queens is not that bad besides Far Rockaway and parts of Locust Manor, a lot of the people down there do need an attitude check though.

The worst neighborhood in the city in my opinion is hands down East New York/Brownsville.

According to the NYPD official page, the following precincts are listed under "Brooklyn North":

73rd : Brownsville
75th: East NY
79th : Bed Stuy
81st: Bed Stuy
83rd: Bushwick

So pick your poison.

Southern Queens like Southside Jamaica and Far Rockaway.

I thought you meant North Brooklyn as in the neighborhoods, but if we're talking about police precincts, then yes, Brooklyn North is one of the worst precincts in the city, however last time I heard about Bedford-Stuyvesant I heard that it's gentrifying. I agree that Southside Jamaica is a bad area too.

As recently as 2007, Bed-Stuy had one of the highest crime rates in the city; according to the NYC 2007 crime map.

It seems that any neighborhood that I heard a rapper mention is bad.
