In a few weeks I start working in an office about a block away from the Broadway-Lafayette subway stop for the B-D-F-V trains. I don't know Brooklyn at all, but I see that these subway lines run through it. I am wondering if anyone would be so kind as to give me a couple of quick pointers.
I am looking for Brooklyn neighborhoods with easy access to any of those subways that are nice and safe. (It'd be nice if they were also not exorbitantly expensive, but I don't want to limit my options and would pay a premium for a place in a safe neighborhood with a manageable commute.)
Any suggestion, NYC mavens? I appreciate your help.
7th Ave stop on the B/Q is lovely (right next to a beautiful part of Park Slope) and would be a very quick commute. The F train also goes through Park Slope and would be very nice, just a bit longer on the train.
If you give your budget for apartment rent, that would be helpful.
Sheepshead Bay is a decent neighborhood along the B/Q lines although it is further out from Manhattan.
