My wife and I are moving to Whitestone. We are trying to figure out what is available from the Whitestone (and surrounding) area to 160th st. and Grand Concourse in the Bronx. I assume there are buses that go over the Whitestone Bridge, but we just aren't familiar with the pickup and drop-off points. If anyone makes this commute, any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Q44(local) and the QBx1(express) are the only buses that I know of that go over the Whitestone Bridge into the Bronx.

There aren't any buses that will take you directly from Whitestone to the Concourse at 160th. The Q44 terminates at West Farms Square--from there, you can transfer to the Bx36, which stops at the Concourse and Tremont Avenue. That's quite a ways from 160th; you'd need the B or D trains on the Concourse, or the Bx1 bus to get the rest of the way.

This is why we need a subway line from The Bronx to Queens and Brooklyn without going through Manhattan !

He also saw to it that there wasn't a subway line going over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Robert Moses may have done more harm to New York City than any other individual!
