just curious if any new yorkers are sad to see this beautiful establishment close? i had christmas dinner there in 2005 and it was wonderful. the crystal room was so beautiful and the filet was perfect. it was a very memorable experience for me and my then 16 year old son.

Good riddance.

Worst food in the city. Terrible service.

It's not been the same for years, and had survived based upon the tourist trade. It's the shuttering of a great venue, but the restaurant was a shell of its former self, IMO.

It's sad since it's another famous NYC place no longer, but in reality the quality and renown had slipped over there for some time now. So this was coming, and I am not surprised.

And, it could be great when reopened, especially with the planned renovations to the dining facilities, kitchens, etc. It might evolve into a real restaurant again, since it's a very high grossing venue, and would be off the charts with excellent food and good service. It could be the flagship in Dean Poll's restaurant group, as it should be based upon revenues and setting alone.

We ate there last Thanksgiving on reputation alone, completely getting that it was a gift shop that happened to sell food and we seriously couldn't believe how offensive it was.

The waiter reminded us twice that we were taking too long to eat and that someone else was waiting for our table (and it wasn't like we were taking our sweet time).

$492 for two adults and one child for what tasted like Denny's.

I'm not exaggerating that either.

Good riddance. Give the location to someone who knows how to run a restaurant.

There are so many great restauranteurs in this town, there's no excuse for bad food in that location. They should get it someone like Danny Meyer to turn it around.

I truly hated that place. Just horrible. Food was a joke, so overpriced and cafeteria quality. Service was ridiculous. The only reason I went a 2nd time was because I left my credit card there the first time, and I called them repeatedly and no one would call me back. I finally got someone on the phone and they gave me a gift certificate since no one returned my call. But seriously, I'm genuinely happy this place is gone.
