it depends cause the west and east side of north crown heights look like a south bronx hood, but then again in the north part of crown heights the weeksville section looks and has the same amount of crime as its neighbor brownsville. and in the western sections franklin , bedford , nostrand , and new york all look just as bad and ghetto as south crown heights, but everything in between is nice with all them nice brownstones though.

The criminals strike when you least expect. This happened to a florist in Chinatown/LES near Columbus Park and City Hall, where reports said the would-be-rapist asked for her helped. He then tried to drag her in but she screamed and fought and caused the criminal to flee. He is still on the loose and anyone near that area is advised to be on the look out.

300-something murders for a city of over 8 mil is definitely isn't too bad, relatively safe if you ask me. Probably won't even make it 550 this year.

Murder is one factor, but what is often left out are incidents that leave the victims in a coma, disabled or injured.

We know the police is mandated to keep the crime numbers artificially low.

NYPD brass pressuring cops to keep down crime stats: report

For this city and in many others, criminals have several advantages. Political correctness prevents the press from adequately describing the perps. Those who promote the idea that everything is rosy enable many people to let their guard down. And the city purposely downgrades many crimes, effectively making it easier on the thugs.

@ Avtomat I really hope your right but Im not so sure we're not gonna get over 550 this year. September has historically been one of the worst months when it comes to murders and with the way murders have been happening in places we would have never have expected before, we may see that trend continue this year. A couple of days ago there were two choppers circling my building and the four block radius around it, not exactly sure what happened but where I moved to is pretty much the good part of Ridgewood and things have been happening here alot more lately. Its not just murders it's all kinds of violent crimes that seemed to have shot up this year as opposed to recent previous years... But like Sobroguy said thou which I do have to agree with, one its nowhere near where it used to be, and two we will not find out if this is a real trend or simply a blip on a decreasing trend until we see next year's numbers.

rear storage room for a cup of tea.
