Canarsie has been on the decline since the 90s; just look at the performance of the schools. PS 115 and 272 used to be amongst the best in Brooklyn, now they are among the worst. There is a high amount of gang activity and a low amount of parental involvement. There are still some great families, but for the most part Canarsie has slid downhill.
