Hi , a am a brooklynite moving out on my own. My price range is $1000- $1200 and i want a 1 bedroom near the subway in one of the following neighborhoods: sunnyside, woodside, jackson heights, flushing or flatbush avenue. The problem is this- where do i start. I've read mix reviews about broker websites to use/not use as well as no fee sites. Can anyone recommend a good website that you personally have had success with. I would prefer to not pay a 3rd party but i'm realistic so if i need to go with a broker- who is good and won't price gouge me (i can pay a fee of one months read but some have been asking for almost twice that)

Thanks for all/any advice.

good no fee sites that actually helps you find places
reputable brokers that deliver and don't price gouge

I suggest you find a Yellow Pages directory (or go to the yellow pages website) and look up under real estate brokers, ones that are located by their address in the areas that you want to live. Then you have the option to call those brokers or contact them by their websites.
