Just wanted to start a thread about which roads my fellow NYers driving on. Assuming both were experiencing good traffic flow (yea yea I kno)...would you go for the parkways or take the expressways? Do you think there's even a difference? Me personally I like the parkways because it's just cars and the scenery tends to be better. However the road quality on the expressways seem to be significantly better than the pkwys and can handle higher speeds . What do you guys think?
In Rochester we have the Lake Ontario State Parkway, starting at the Genesee River and heading west, almost to Niagara county. The median is hundreds of feet wide in some areas and the Monroe county section was beautifully landscaped. Unfortunately, the state hasn't kept up with the maintenance, but it is stil a beautiful road if you want to just go for a ride. Spring and fall are the best. The road itself is well maintained.

That sounds neat. How far is the route from Niagara Falls?
I love Merritt and Hutchinson parkways. When going from Connecticut to Pelham/New Rochelle/Scarsdale and returning, I hate the tolls on 95. It's simply unnecessary money spent
parkways, but where I live(Rochester), the parkways aren't really in areas in places I need to go often. In NYC I like driving parkways better. More scenic and not trucks.
