Hopefully some natives to the area can shed some light on the topic! I currently work in the water department for a city outside Chicago for the last five years! I do not hold a water license but am curious on how things are done up there! I would assume that most hires for city/county work is hired out locally but would like some kind of insight on hires/job freezes etc etc! I'm trying to leave this miserable state and I absolutely love the simple outdoor living up there without all the negatives that my current state holds! I really appreciate any info that is posted! Thank you!
Location: Finally made it to Florida and lovin' every minute!

Hi, diggs.
I'd do a whole lot of research before moving. I'm from Ogdensburg originally and I don't see many new jobs coming that way. Maybe things have changed recently. It is a beautiful area, but I'd make sure that I had a letter of employment in hand before moving. Best of luck to you.

Actually, there was recent news that there might be quite a few jobs coming to that area. I believe up to 1200 wind turbine jobs, potentially.
Wow! that's great news; I hope it's true - is it supposed to be long term or temporary? Funny no one mentioned that to me. Thanks.
I believe long term and some jobs are supposedly going to Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo too.
