I'm considering Sloatsburg, Suffern, Montebello and Airmont.
Out of them all, Airmont appears to have largest properties for the price (compared to other above villages). I'm looking for 0.5 to 2 acres property.
So I'd like to get more info on the Airmont:
What is the lifestyle like?
What is the political situation?
What is the religious situation?
Any upcoming projects or other events that may affect the property tax?
Any other known issues to be aware of?
Airmont is a nice country village, central to many things, homes tend to be more expensive than Sloatsburg, which is less central and more remote. Sloatsburg is next to Seven Lakes Drive and Harriman state Park, which is pretty nice if you enjoy the great outdoors.
Montebello is nice, but has higher taxes. Airmont is split between East Ramapo and Central Ramapo school districts. Big difference. The section of Airmont in East Ramapo is mostly Hasidic. Do you have kids? If so, the school is more important than the Village.
