I wonder how they decided this. Once again western NY is overly compensated.

The money will be spread throughout the state based on this breakdown:
  • Capital Region 4%
  • Central NY Region 4%
  • Finger Lakes Region 4%
  • Hudson Valley Region 12%
  • Long Island Region 18%
  • Mohawk Valley Region 4%
  • NYC Region 30%
  • North Country Region 4%
  • Southern Tier Region 4%
  • Western NY Region 8%

Technically, it looks like the Hudson Valley is overly compensated, comparatively speaking.

Hudson Valley has over 2 million residents, so it's a closer comparison. Cuomo just has a love afare with western NY. Why else does it get twice as much as Finger Lakes, with nearly identical population? None of these make sense, and to round them off like they did shows there was very little thought put into this. Typical NYS, spend without thinking

Is the Hudson Valley covering the whole valley from just north of NYC to the Albany area?

I think WNY in this case includes not only the Buffalo metro area, but Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. https://regionalcouncils.ny.gov/western-new-york I don’t know or think it warrants more money, but the Capital Region is in the same boat as the Finger Lakes Region in regards to funding in relation to population.

You can find the economic regions here: https://regionalcouncils.ny.gov/

The Finger Lakes region is 9 counties, more than the Rochester metro, so again, Western and Finger Lakes have almost identical population. Yes, Albany too. Perhaps they will benefit from the Hudson Valley being so close. Mohawk Valley got the same as FL too.

So, Mohawk Valley likely got more relative to population as well. It is essentially the Utica-Rome area(300k people) and I believe a few other counties.

So, a lot of this is likely “unevenâ€, which could be based on certain needs.
