The area is made up of people like you(New York City) transplants and have brought that mind set with them. I have lived here most of my life and have to say, I would not recommend it to anyone. You would be better off looking into Eastern Pennsylvania.

Mr. Handy.... if you hate traffic and minorities so much, maybe you should go move further upstate or to a place like West Virginia, which you would likely find to be much more to your liking.

To the people that say White's aren't commiting crimes in Middletown, Look at two of the last murders in the last year committed by young white's... The shooting last year where the young man from Mt Vernon was killed, and the man that was beaten to death last week at West gate .

Default better than NYC...

All of you who think middletown is so bad never spent any time in the inner city! Middletown is a piece of cake compared to the inner city, pi's, hoods, etc. stop complaining and move already. Just a thought.

Middletown is really no different from any other similarly sized city in an area with a depressed economy. If you think it is a uniquely dangerous or rundown area, you must be sheltered.

That doesn't mean its problems are not real or concerning, but if you need sanitized suburbia to feel safe, by all means, make haste back to your safe place.
