I remember a few years ago when (former) Governor Pataki tried to tax the Indians' cigarettes. That was a pretty intense situation. I don't think NYS will ever try that again.

Someone had a sign that read: "Wakki Pataki Don't tax our tobacki"

As per your question, I think they will find more to increase taxes on our untilities. After all, we (Erie County) have a cell phone tax too

Cell phone taxex....I live in the lower Hudson Valley...and on every cell phone bill and house phone bill...there is a surcharge for the NYC 911 system.......on top of that....on everything we buy...there is a 1/4% tax added that goes to NYC........so as you can see....NYC...will always find a way...to sock it to us...even if we do not live there...the only way to beat it is to move out of the state...perhaps if enough of the tax payers moved out...NY would have to wake up and stop giving everything away........but I doubt it

Here in Virginia we pay personel property tax on our vehicles every year! With the attempt to repeal it the state only bills us for about 1/3 of the value. It has to be the most despised tax in the state. Even at full value I am still paying less than you folks have to.
