On appeal, the verdict will be reduced by at least half. Still a lot of money but the judge in this case will be struck down by an appellate court. Meanwhile, he has to put up the collateral for this ruling which seems to be the entire point of the ruling to begin with.

There is adequate police funding here. Unfortunately my fellow citizens hold the same attitude that most NYers do when it comes to Police Officers. The force is down by 35%. That’s just the city. The county is a sea of red.
And for that matter, what does it say to anybody else that might consider starting a business in NY State?
It says you should be ethical and honest, and not commit a fraud or the State of NY will come after you just like they rightfully did with Trump. That's exactly what it says.
