Cornwall and Highland Mills are nice but taxes are high in Cornwall, very good schools though. Highland Falls is the complete opposite, not much there at all.

I would have to agree. I would like to point out though that there are parts of Highland Falls that are absolutely gorgeous. So if you are looking in the area, don't completely pass it up because you can sometimes find some pretty good deals at pretty god prices.

Anyone care to explain a bit more.

My wife and I looked at cornwall on hudson a year back, and were not really that impressed. The 1 strip mall by the round about looked depressingly deserted. The prices were not much lower than where we are now (bergen county nj), higher taxes and not really a lot going on.

Just taking a look at Highland mills now, as it is signifcantly closer to our family back in bergen county but you seem to get a lot lower prices, more land ,etc. Taxes are still higher.
