I know not a Nissan but for what you want a 1991-2000 Manual Lexus SC300 would fit all your needs and wants quite well unless you wanted a 4-door sedan a low mileage well equipped SC300 would be a blast to drive and own and still not seem outdated even by today standards outside a few electronic gizmo's.
heck the2JZ-GE-powered SC 300 were rated at 225 hp (168 kW)/210 lb·ft (285 N·m). and came with a 5-speed from 1992-1997 and have a nice smooth 3.0L I-6 and are fun RWD cars that people kind of forgot about.. the SC 300 had an acceleration 0–60 mph in 6.8 seconds with the 5-speed manual and 7.2 seconds with the 4-speed automatic for all years
That is the problem, seems like these combinations are a thing of the past, unless of course you consider luxury nameplates. Funny how Americans consider certain options to be "sport" and "luxury" is what the rest of the first world considers to be conventional, the sparsity of manual transmissions REALLY bothers me when it comes to new purchases.
I'm not sure I like it too much... Too much going on.
Hopefully they do something with the drivetrain to set it apart from its competition, including its own Altima...
That's a bad Photoshop. I don't think the redesigned Max will look anything like this.
Disagree- it has more options/higher build quality than the Altima and, most importantly, has higher profit margins. No reason to get rid of it.
Maybe from Nissan's perspective but not from consumer's end. I do agree that both compete against each other. Many people cross shop both vehicles. One is cannibalizing the other.
Altima was supposed to be lower end model when it came out but quite honestly it really doesn't take a back seat anymore to the Maxima
Uh huh, Nissan is clueless, the Altima cannibalizes sales of the Maxima. Beyond groupie talk at dealers, anyone have any proof that is all true? If everyone bought cars by measurements, we'd all be driving buses.

Consumers aren't the ones that classify cars by size
Mfgs do it already: Economy, Compact, Mid-Size, Full-Size

No, the manufacturers aren't the ones that classify cars by size, that is regulated by the government, just so you know. Anyway, I was referring to all the posts comparing the measurements of the Altima vs Maxima.
