Now for the other part I didn't say. The guys were White, the women, Black.
Don't want to make this a racial incident, but what do you think?
I'm not of the gym demographic myself (over 40 and NOT fit) I don't expect anyone to laugh at me. If they did, I am sure my husband would probably get angry and have a little talk with them.
If I see this sort of thing again, I will report them to the manager.
Ok, that adds some spice now.
You sure the women were not behaving like Rasputia in Norbit??
Yeah, it's pretty funny (not) how biased people can be against super fit guys calling them meat heads as they walk around staring at themselves (or each other) in the mirror.
It would be nice if we just didn't have size bias in this culture.
Everything is correct to an extent. But who wants to "openly" laugh at fat people head to head?
No one is advocating laughing at them, but they, just like countless others, need to realize that there are plenty of rude idiots out there who will. All the crying about it won't change a f'n thing, they need to deal with it.
They need to change? I thought "they" were going to the gym. The rude idiots need to change. But like you said, whining about it doesn't change an f'in thing!
I feel sorry for the ladies. Weight for us girls is a very emotional thing. Heck, I feel ""fat" every month (you know what I mean) and I work out 4-5 days a week so I am fit. I hope they don't stop going to the gym just because of these two idiots. As another poster said, if we let other's perceptions or opinions of ourselves interfere with our goals, we will never succeed.
It's amazing to me how many people go to the gym just to look at others's sizes and such. When I am at the gym (not sure if it's because is 6:30am), I am in the zone. I go in there to get a sweat and a great workout and then I am gone. No time to waste on what other people are doing.
OP, if you see it again, please let the staff know. These ladies are paid members as well and need to be treated with the same amount of respect. Kudos to them for working on their health.
Well, yes, but we're having a "rough time" right now. She's an old childhood friend, so I guess we're still friends by default.
I don't know what's going on with her, but in the last 6 - 8 months she's been kind of a mean spirited person (this is just one example of her behavior as of late). There's quite a bit of distance between us right now, because I don't really want to talk to her if all she's going to do is make fun of others - which is exactly what she seems to be doing a lot of lately. I feel like we're back in middle school again.
Good time to cut ties, otherwise people who know both of you will think you are like her. You'll get a crappy rep by default. Make the grown up decision, cut ties.
Yesterday I was at the gym with my family. We usually work out 3-4 times a week.
While I was on the exercise bike, I could see these guys, 20 something guys doing weights. 2 ladies walk by. This one lady is quite fat with a huge 'bubble butt.'
I would have def given them a piece of my mind. And no, I wouldn't worry about what they would say back because no one has ever been able to denigrate me worse than I can denigrate them. lol but that's just me. I guess if I were someone else, I would have reported them to the manager.
No one is advocating laughing at them, but they, just like countless others, need to realize that there are plenty of rude idiots out there who will. All the crying about it won't change a f'n thing, they need to deal with it.
Nope. People shouldn't be allowed to be mean and cruel and others should have to "just deal with it". I hope if they keep it up, they're ejected from the gym. No, you can't address ALL the cruelness in the world, but THIS can be addressed by the gym manager/owner.
