Why is it that when a family member or friend call or text you and you ignore it's not that big of a deal but if a guy or girl that you are romantically involved with ignores you it's considered disrespectful and grounds for break up?

Most people will advise you (especially dating experts) that if a romantic partner ignores a text or a call (regardless of what time they get back to you...if they do) that means they are losing interest. But if your mother or best friend calls or text you and you ignore it for whatever reason (regardless when you get back to them...if you do) it's not that big of a deal.

Why is that?

People are afraid of being classified as stalkers. If the romantic interest doesn't respond and you keep texting, you might be intruding when they don't want you to be. Family is ok if they stalk you . Ish.

Family is family easy answer , friends will always be friends let alone best friends ... things can be picked up where left off , true friendships Dont mind . However ..you cant do that with romantic relationships. Get my drift ??

Is it? I had not heard? I find either to be just as immature and pointless as the other.

I haven't heard that ignoring anyone is okay.

Why would you ignore someone? To me that is a purposeful action, rather than just being busy and unable to reply promptly.

I'm just thankful that's not something I'll ever have to consider....no cell for me.

I don't agree that it is okay to ignore friends or family members on texts/calls.

I don't think it's OK to ignore family or friends. If it's not urgent you don't have to get back to them right away. But to ignore is just plain rude. Why would you do that?
