That is just a limited mind. People like that have no thought process that would allow themselves to think outside the strict rules of social mores from decades ago. Absolutely ridiculous.
Honestly when I was younger people like this would really irritate the hell out of me. Now, I'd just let it roll right off of me. People this ignorant really don't even deserve to be acknowledged.

Could also be they are ignorant. They cleave to their views because their views are the only ones they know.
Too bad so many of this kind are in politics, so as to make laws that constrain and extort money from the rest of us. Too bad so many citizens screech mantras like rabid monkeys, while believing they are thus engaged in analysis and critical thinking.
