I live probably less than a half mile from an outdoor mall/"lifestyle center" and can't believe the craziness of the holiday season. The mall is essentially cut in half by a four lane road, and there are various crosswalks where shoppers can cross, but yesterday people were walking all over the place, endangering themselves and motorists.
Everywhere I went yesterday (gym, Burger King, grocery store, car wash) was absolutely jammed. Traffic was worse than rush hour, with people cutting each other off, clogging the intersections, blowing the horns.
It was about the most stressful day of doing what should be low key stuff I can remember since I moved here.
Does anyone else think manners and common sense just go out the window this time of year?
I sympathize. I live less than a mile from an upscale mall, and traffic levels rise exponentially this time of year. If I could possibly avoid driving from Halloween until the second week of January, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Instead, I listen to mellow music and practice deep-breathing.
somehow, and I don't know how this is possible,,
but
how is it ..when driving.. most of the people in front of me,,,are slower than me,,,and all the people behind me,,,,seem to be faster....wanting to pass
We avoid mall areas for the whole month of December unless we can visit mid day on Tues-Thur. Even then it can be crazy. The danger of driving and even parking this time of year is not worth it.
Living in a big city, I saw it. Drivers were aggressive. People were rude. It was just...ugly. I wouldn't go out much and started doing my shopping online.
I live in a smaller city in another part of the country and I haven't seen it start here yet.
I hate the holidays, especially all of the shoppers. I always have & always will avoid Black Friday at all costs, but it's especially hectic to even just go grocery shopping at this time of year. Looking forward to January...
