Once you start down that path it can quickly become a slippery slope. I started out by taking 11 items through the 10 item express lane at the grocery store and shortly there after graduated to routinely tearing the labels off of mattresses and pillows and encouraging my friends to do the same. That's federal law baby! I am contemplating putting my stamps on the flap of the envelope instead of the top right corner. Don't tread on me!
Portland is just a bit too....studied in its weirdness. When you have to paint a mural that says, "Keep Portland Weird" downtown, it means you're working at it too damned hard.
I may be what you classify as a rebel. Ever since I was little, I was taught to follow the social norms. I dealt with this for how many years, until one day I decided I didn't want to continue conforming to society's social norms.
Very nice........ Like me sort of........ I have my own mind and think for myself........ To me there is NO "NORM" -- Normal is a made up word used by people to justify what they think is right or wrong..... IT MEANS NOTHING!!
Normal is a social construct, no doubt, but that doesn't change the fact that all societies create normal. The lesson to be learned is that in a free society, you have the right to be a rebel and to break the rules and norms of society, but you don't have the right to escape the consequences.
Want to dye your hair purple or tattoo your face? That's your right, but on the flip side, don't claim to be a victim if you can't fine employment.
I may be what you classify as a rebel. Ever since I was little, I was taught to follow the social norms. I dealt with this for how many years, until one day I decided I didn't want to continue conforming to society's social norms. That's were I became a rebel. I feel free, less pressure to fit in and\follow the crowd. Social norms were a pain in the butt. I became a rebel because I wanted to be different. And I succeeded in becoming a rebel. I live by my rules and not society's .
So do you conform to social norms or are you a rebel like me?
No, I do not, I am considered a "freak" or "outcast".
I'm a free thinker as I've found myself starting over 20 yrs ago...I'm 79. I do NOT conform in the pharma medicine world for sure. Unless it's a desperate or really need for pharma med, I do my own healing.
