How old were you when the first one died and the last one died? It seems like by the time many people hit their 50s and 60s at least one of their parents has passed already. Do you personally know many people in their 50s and 60s who still have both parents?
I was curious because my Mom and her siblings are in their 50s and 60s and both their parents are still alive, so was wondering how common or uncommon this is.
I was 17 when my father died (at 70 - yes I was a big surprise) and 38 when my mother died about the same time I got pregnant with my sweet son. Her very unhealthy sister lived until 89 so it was a horrible surprise when she got cancer at a very young and energetic 74 after years of healthy living. My FIL died when my husband was 42 leaving only one uninterested grandparent for my sweet children. I would not wish this on anyone. It's not been easy raising my boys without my wonderful parents.

I was 48 before my grandfather died. My father died when I was 52. My mother is still alive at 81 and I just turned 62. My boss is 55 and both his parents are still alive although his father is not doing well.
Im 40. Dad died in 1980, Mom in 1985. Sucks I never got to grow up with them, never got to know Dad or have a beer with him or take Mom shopping.
Family situation was always rough, most other members are gone today too. Nothing I could do about that. Life will hit us with bad things.
