I remember clearly I was maybe younger than 6. I remember watching tv with my parents and all of a sudden the Emergency Broadcasting test would come on with the loud, continuous high-pitched whine along with a close-up picture of what looked like the head of a statue.

I remember that scared the hell outta me for some reason and I turned away from the tv and cried.
The adult equivalent of that would be the jump scares on YouTube showing a close-up of the Exorcist girl. LOL

The theme song for the TV show "Lassie" used to make me cry. I remember my siblings laughing, and that made me grin, but the tears continued. I can still hear little Timmy calling out "Lassie! Lassie!" during that song.

They got into a fight about whether or not those are the same thing (I imagine my wife's arguments weren't particuarly nuanced). Finally, her mom picked up the sandwich, flipped it over and said: "Here! It's a jelly and peanut butter sandwich." My wife started sobbing.

I wouldn't call that a strange thing to cry about!

I don't think I ever cried about this, but I used to be freaked out by the moon as a little kid. When my parents would be driving us back from my grandparents and it was night time, I'd hide under a blanket so I didn't have to see full moons. Somewhere I had seen the scene from the very old movie where the spaceship crashes into the moon and the moon had a human face seemingly covered in cheese.

There was probably a good 2 years where I didn't want to look at the moon at all.

okay... this is going back a lot years when we had only had 5 channels and you had to walk to the tv to physically change the channel....

Some nights my dad used to let me stay up late and we'd watch cowboy and Indian shows on tv. There was always a war between the cowboys and Indians, and the Indians would shoot their arrows and kill the cowboys, or the cowboys would kill the Indians.... and I was okay with that... but if one their horses got injured or fell over. I cried my eyes out.

My mom gave me a stick of chapstick in the first grade on my first day of school. I lost it at my first recess and cried off and on for a few days because it seemed so special when she gave it to me.
