Hello all:

I am planning on buying a Beazer home. They have just started putting the foundation for the first home. I went to the construction site I found the following:

1- The concrete foundation (a curtain around the house perimeter) was pour last week, and they already started to build on the top of it.

2- At the construction site I found large ballots of pre-manufactured sub-floor. It is large squares or rectangles made of pine wood, and covered with plywood.

Is it ok to build on a foundation after only few days?
Is it common to use pre-manufactured sub-floors?

This will be my first new home, and I don't know much about constructions.
I appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks

1. no problem building a few days after concrete is poured.
2. those are engineered trusses and they are a very popular, easy way to build. Trusses are engineered exact for the house plan by a structural engineer. They allow for lengthier spanning which eliminates the need for a crawlspace full of interior piers.

trusses tend to not be as susceptible to squeaking floors as a bonus

I would not move into a Beazer Home. My family first moved into a Beazer home (they were Squires in 92 when we moved here) and within 4-5 years of the homes being built EVERYONE had to either repaint their houses or get vinal siding. My husband and I made the mistake of buying a Beazer home in '00. The wood trim around the outside is completely rotted (as well as all of our neighbors). So we are all replacing it. Plus Beazer made some unethical choices in order to close out the neighborhood. So after almost 8 years of living here our house will probably have only appreciated enough to do closing costs. If we moved 2 miles away we would be able to clear 50-60K in another developement.
