Something to consider is that the places with hotter Summers are also going to be the places with shorter Winters and longer Springs and Autumns. While the mountain areas have cooler Summers, they do have longer Winters and snow that measured with a longer measuring stick.
Frankly, when I read your lovely post, I also thought of Seagrove. Good luck!

I read your post and had to reread it.... most of it sounds like exactly what I am looking for. I am probably moving to Charlotte for about a year and then I will look into other areas... just need to do the job learning and go from there... I will follow this post.. good Luck to you and your searches.

Good for you! Sounds like you found your place of peice. I really enjoy that part of the country..many yrs ago I vacationed in Avery county with families... now hoping to make the change to find my place too...
