I grew up in Cumberland County and Carolina anoles (in green and brown) are super common there. I have never seen a house gecko in my life, but have seen many Carolina anoles, 5 lined skinks, salamanders, and even a fence lizard or two.

I have never heard of house geckos in Cumberland County, but could be. Can you share a photo that you took?

I remember tree frogs in SE NC. There are salamanders but they are full time water salamanders IE always bear a stream

I have a gecko that has been living in my house for a few years now, it's gotten real friendly, its not afraid to come around me, the other day as a matter of fact it went under my left leg and hopped up on my right leg and kind of looked at me and then just went on it's merry way.
