I live in Charlotte and I'm used to it being in the late 80s or early/mid 90s in the summer and to me it seems colder this year.

I think the weather has been a little screwy for the past few years. I put it down to climate change. We're seeing different clouds in the past few years and it seems more unstable to me. I was born in NC and have lived here almost all my life (except for a brief sojourn in Los Angeles). Yes, I do think it has been cooler. I also think there's been more breeze (which is nice when it's not too strong). Often we'd just have really stagnant air hanging around w/ no movement to it.

Climate change. yes the climate is always changing. The temps this Spring are a little below average. To be expected.

Plus, there's a reason they are called averages. Sometimes it's warmer, and sometimes its colder. It was colder this year, though I seem to remember last year being warmer than average.

We've had a warmer than normal spring the last few years, sometimes getting hot and dry in early May. This year its been milder, which is fine with me.

As anyone who spent time outdoors over the past few months can attest, the idyllic spring of 2013 is one for the memory banks, and it turns out that it's also one for the record books. The preliminary rankings show this spring was the 7th coldest and 50th driest on record for North Carolina. That includes a March that was actually colder than January for many locations across the state.

50th driest? The rest of the state must have been a desert, so much rain in Charlotte area this spring, especially in March.
