I am thinking of leaving NY to move to NC. I hear a lot of New Yorkers are moving down that way. What are the areas they seem to be moving to. The most important thing for me Is a town with a lot of children. I only have one child and would like her to have the chance to have many friends. I am very nervous also because I know a few people that moved down and came back to NY. They did not make friends and felt very depressed. Finding work was not an issue.

Cary is frequently the location people refer to as having lots of families. It is a suburb of Raleigh but with 136,000 people, it is large enough to be a city itself. Kindly do some reading on the Wake County schools, as they have growing pains.

Yes, there have been people who could not adjust and moved back, so you have to be realistic about yourself and your needs.

I live in Hope Mills (a little town adjacent to Fayetteville) and my neighbor and her hubby moved here almost 10 years from NY with her 2 daughters. She told me her main reason was it was less expensive here plus better public schools. There are numerous things to do where kids activities are concerned, so making friends wont be a problem.

The public schools are not better, not even close. Plus, NC is doing away with master's pay. What do you think will happen to the quality of teacher?
