Wright Foods distributor adding 505 jobs in Troy (Winston-Salem, Salem: sales, unemployment rate)

Wright Foods will expand its Troy food processing and packaging plant, investing $53 million and adding 505 to its local workforce of 80 within five years.
The company uses the N.C. State University-developed asceptic-processing technique to package food without preservatives.

This is good news for Montgomery county, and great technique created by local college.
I wonder who sales Wright Foods as I dont remember seeing their products.

I have not seen their products in stores either, but their web site shows paper "bricks" of chicken gravy and tomato sauce.

This is a good step for the Troy area.

I will pay attention more to see if I notice their logos, I thought about I bet it found in stores like Whole foods & Trader Joes.
Im curious why State engineered packaging is unique as aseptic processing is an old technology.
It would be good for Montgomery County as it unemployment rate of 9.6 but I dont see how a packaging process is going to create demands.

I did a little digging and they located to Troy in 2011 but I still trying to figure how they think the company will grow that 101 employees will be needed in five years.

It's very encouraging to see signs of job growth anywhere in the state considering our stubbornly high unemployment rate. Seeing it in rural counties such as Montgomery that didn't see the same level of prosperity even during the boom of the mid 2000s as Wake, Mecklenburg, etc. is even more encouraging.

I just received a like for my original post, that Governor McCrory stated this company would create 500 jobs within 5 years with a $53 million investment.

I thought I would update and it's bad news for Troy NC.
The company has been struggling from the get go and announce last fall that it is closing and will be selling to national and international companies.
