HSM Solutions, already one of the largest employers in Catawba County, will invest $3.3 million over 3 years in the expansion. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker made the announcement Tuesday at HSM headquarters in Hickory. The manufacturer changed its name from Hickory Springs in May 2013.

Of the 162 jobs, 137 will be at the company’s manufacturing facility on Main Avenue in Hickory. The remainder of the jobs will be at HSM’s foam technical center and its corporate innovation and research center, both in Conover.

HSM has a location in China that employs 140 workers, and the CEO is confident in the company’s ability to compete, his objective is to bring those jobs back to the USA within a year, he said after the announcement Tuesday. Not all of the 140 jobs would be needed in the US but the company hasn’t made those determinations, he said.
The company wants to have an international, global presence but it intends to be a made-in-the-USA company.
HSM is only manufacturer of beach chairs & tables made in USA labeled as 'Beach Tuff'.
