This is distorted due to the number of people who don't actually work or pay income taxes, but who file a tax return so they can get a "refund" due to the child earned income credit.

Didn't NC make everyone fill out a withholding form at the beginning of last year...I'm betting the withholdings change made it so they don't have to give as much money back.

I kept my withholdings the same as 2013. I cannot recall if I did 1 or 0? I think it was "0". When i file my taxes I claim myself and my child. Unfortunately, I don't get any "unearned" refund on her because of my salary range. I think i will go line by line and manually rework my (Turbotax) 2014 return to see what exactly changed from 2013 in terms of deductions the state may have removed in 2014. I am just stunned I am down $900!
