I like outdoor sports, kayaking, fishing, biking. No I don't want to live
in a metro area, I've had enough of that. Another passion I have is
jazz, so would it be possible to find all this in Eastern N.C. I Like New
bern, How about Washington? Any thoughts? thanks...

Not that you can't find those things in eastern NC (hopefully someone who knows specifics about that part of the state will chime in shortly), but the real areas for all those things, in beautiful settings to boot, is western NC Man, there is great canoeing, kayaking and some whitewater rafting in beautiful places like the Nantahala Forest, New River, and the Wilson Creek Gorge. Let me know if you change your mind about locating west instead of east

New Bern and Washington are possibilities.

I hear there's great kayaking along the Intracoastal Waterway, so anywhere near there could possibly work for you.

Look along the Outer Banks, Manteo, Bath, Southport, Ocracoke, Bald Head Island maybe, Topsail Island, etc.

All the best!

Agree with lovesthemountains. Not that ENC wouldn't have what you mentioned, just that WNC would seem be be a better fit.
