Well....from what I heard in Wake county only uncertified employees were cut, and open certified jobs (not the ones arleady taken) -- and I am not talking about the luxury of teaching in the city of Raleigh but above Raleigh, on the NC/VA line--it takes me at least one hours drive from Raleigh to get to work. And I don't even live in Raleigh, I live in SC-I am making the sacrifice b/c the work is up here. Also....I found someone who lets me stay at her house and she works (near me) - I do all of the driving. It's exhausting - we teach Special Education/EC students, and there seem to be more jobs in Spec. Ed than in Regular Education.
