I-40 & I-77 intersection at Statesville

True, but it might still be helpful for someone who reads this who wants to stop in Statesville. Last time I was there (a few months ago), the interchange at K&W had been reconfigured into a diverging diamond, which is fine once you get used to feeling like you're going against oncoming traffic, but the striping hadn't been completed so it was a little unclear as to where the correct lanes were.

Construction on the first part of this project just ended this year. Traveling westbound on I-40, you now have to use the I-77 exit to get to US 21.

The second part of the interchange reconfiguration is about to be underway. A design-build contract was awarded last October. This phase will construct flyover ramps from I-40 east to I-77 north and I-40 west to I-77 south, and add collector-distributor lanes on I-40 east. Construction is scheduled through 2022.
