I certainly wouldn't want any of them to stop posting their honest opinions. Otherwise, I would stop visiting this message board.. And in his defense (not that he needs me to), I have also read some really informative posts from him as well. Have a nice evening everyone..
Thank you very much. While I don't think I make a whole lot of sarcastic comments.... they are right in that I joke around a lot. But seriously, I do try to help people. When they just ask questions like what towns are like, what neighborhoods are nice and where to go for this and that.... I tiell them. It's only when I see VERY common misconceptions.... or total naive BS like that NC really isn't very hot and humid (compared to MN or most places) that I speak my mind a little more and give my opinion, and some not so easy to read facts about the area. I can understand how they percieve it as me making fun of them or trying to dampen their spirits or get them to change their minds or something. But in really.... come on, I know you aren't going to change your mind about moving somewhere just because someone tells you bad things about it over the internet. But if you know what the area is really like before you move here, you won't be as frustrated when it's not all you thought it was, and you'd probably enjoy it more that way.

My husband and I were laughing because we would always say if we don't like it we could always go back to Az. We got a kick out of that. Back to AZ?
hahahahahaha I don't think so.

nk0171, it's the general tone of their post that I'm talking about. Someone once posted they were looking at NC to live completely stress free lives.. (like that's possible anywhere)

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but, if everytime a local expresses their opinion, someone is going to reply with a "but in california", "but in NY", etc., then how are we supposed to get a locals opinion?? Isn't it easier to ignore a post if you don't agree with its tone??

I agree with you. Sometimes you write very "informed" messages that need to be said and it is a great service to people new to NC. I guess it just sometimes bothers me when I feel like you are dampening people's spirits. It is kind of like when someone wants to try something new (anything: sport, food, location, etc.) and you get the response, "Oh, I have done that before and it is horrible." Well, it may be horrible to you, but maybe not to the person wanting to experience it first hand. I am not saying I wouldn't try something just because someone told me not to, but it would make me a little less excited about the prospect of trying something new. I don't know if I am coming across clear, but I certainly am not trying to attack you or your honesty. It is just sometimes you can only handle so much teasing and negativity. I think where some of it especially annoys me is I am already facing it directly by people I know when I tell them we are moving to NC. I always have to hear the naysayers express their comments about the humidity, bugs, hurricanes, religious zealots, etc. Yes, I get it, NC has some undesirable aspects to it. But, what place doesn't?????

Oh my gosh that is exactly what is happening to us. Our friends are getting down right nasty. Oh well what can you do? Gotta do what's best for ourselves.

I'minformed..... I always like your posts. I can always see through your negative stuff. You are just trying to help. You probably don't have a mean bone in your body.

Your input is fine. Better to see positive and negative than all positive!
