doing research on the area...trying to fing out if there is an advantage buying in pinehurst vs. nearby towns. i am a golfer who is thinking of moving and retiring in moore county.. is it cheaper to but in town and pay transfer fee or are there other local deals for golf?? are there any local golf groups..or organizations?? i would be relocating knowing one one in the area....thanks for any input....steve
I live in Pinehurst. The advantage of buying a home in Pinehurst is of course the Pinehurst membership. You have to own property to be a member. The properties may or may not have a membership when on the market. properties with membership have a transfer fee. Properties without membership a buyer buys the membership. Homes in other areas can be somewhat cheaper and there are a lot of golf communites in the area. Each community has their own membership (many optional memberships) and many of the courses are semi-private - in other words you can play even if not a member.
Glad to help, let me know if you have any more questions about Pinehurst. Yeah, Moore Regional doesn't have a lot of job openings right now compared a couple of years ago. There have been lay-offs over there for a lot of departments.
