My fiancee has been looking into moving to NC, well both of us, lol Shes really looking for an upbeat place, young age crowd, lots of things to do. She will be attending a community college also so that is a factor in where abouts. I will just be looking for a general labor job, she has a job with her moms business over the comp. We have gotten a bunch of stuff in the mail on towns, Wilmington, Raleigh, etc, but find it hard to really get a good sense of the places. She wants to be fairly close to the beach, but I think if its a lively city, then it doesn't matter as we live close to Lake Michigan and are hardly there. We have about a 800ish/month limit(my parents will be paying) I've tried to research, but just to much stuff, places to take in for me Any suggestions on cities or what part of a city to live in? Thanks a ton for any help/suggestions. Much appreciated.

NC is a great place to live And we have a wonderful community college system. However, our umemployment rate is higher than the national average right now - ALL jobs are hard to come by, from McDonalds to white collar. So just be aware of that and be sure you have at least 6 months of savings to live on in case it takes you that long to land something.

Wilmington would probably be a good choice for you since your girl loves the beach. It's a small city but there's a branch of the University of NC there, so there are college age kids around. Have her check out Cape Fear Community College. And good luck! Welcome To Cape Fear Community College

There are 58 community colleges in NC, so you have a lot of choices as to where. Colleges/Map (http://www.ncccs.cc.nc.us/colleges_map.htm - broken link)

Jobs, not so much
