I have one. I like mine. It says "BY*HOME". Is it vain? I guess it depends on how you look at it. Why must people JUDGE others? Why does it matter what it says? I saw one today that said "playboy" and believe me, the dude driving the car was NOT. Did I get angry? Nope...it just made me laugh!

I like them too. They are a way for people to express themselves. The one I saw today was SNWBDMOM - so I know she has kids and likes to hit the slopes, which is cool.

As for the judging comment, people need to have more of a live and let live attitude imo - too many people think its their place to butt in to others business.

My favorite one that I've seen in recent times has to be on this porsche in Lochmere. I managed to snap a pic, but it was with my phone...

"EPIC FTW"

(it might be that only the really younger people on here understand this one. FTW means "for the win")
(Urban Dictionary: ftw)

Wow I thought this would show up better; it looks pretty good on my computer...
I promise that's what is says though

In Illinois (from where we just moved), you could have them sort of personalized--it had to have at least one letter and one number--at no extra cost. They had been expensive in the state previous to that one where we lived, so I'd never considered them before. It was fun trying to figure out what people were trying to say on their plates. Mine was Go Hogs 3 (for my alma mater, U of A Razorbacks). Go Hogs 1 & 2 were taken at the time. Several years after living there, I was driving along and actually saw (was passed by) a Go Hogs 4 license-plated car. I caught up with them (to wave) only to realize I was in my husband's car (which had our initials on it).

Driving along a Missouri interstate one time, an SUV passed us with the couple in it waving and smiling at us. Their tags were also Hog-related, from Alaska!

One of my favorites was a friend of a friend's tags. Their name was McDonald. Their plates? EIEIO.

Anyone know what show had an episode about tags, "RDWRER" (something like that)?

I like 'em. They can be fun.

Funny, I don't think I have ever seen any vanity plates that are not from here (NC).

Several years ago I saw "7734" and thought, "Now, there's someone living on the edge..."
It was in a Food Lion parking lot.

yes just a few months ago somebody posted that they get tired of seeing so many vanity plates in N.C. DH and I had a fun few hours trying to find something we liked and wasn't taken but we didn't buy anything yet. There is a web site where you can plug in the tag you want and it tells you if it is taken. Does anybody remember what it is?

https://edmv-sp.dot.state.nc.us/sp/S...tesPortal.html

That would be the DMV website. Fyi, what is taken or not also varies by the type of plate, so if a certain string of characters doesn't work on a basic plate, it may work on a special plate.
