We are looking for new construction in a community with schools WITHIN the community itself or in walking distance. We have 2 boys ages 4 and 2. price range 400s. after searching I haven't found a community with schools you can actually walk to. Anywhere in North Carolina that is very family friendly is where we want to be!

Flowers Plantation has two schools within or bordering the development. But they're both elementary.

Otherwise, may be tough to find such a set up in county based districts.

You would love Highland Creek in northeast Charlotte! I think it's completely built out now but you could find a newish home there for sure. It is one of the biggest planned neighborhoods in NC and has pools, a golf course and a great elementary school right in the middle

Thank you both for your responses! I will check into both of the communities you mentioned. I will need to do some more research about what area of NC is best for families w/young children. I was wondering about activities like Boy Scouts, etc. I would really love a neighborhood with loads of "built in" kids and playmates!
