Asheville Home Appreciation Rate 12th in Nation

Figures recently released by OFHEO (Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight) place Asheville with the twelfth highest home appreciation rate among 266 metro areas in the nation. The ranking measured same-home appreciation for the one-year period between March 2006 and March 2007. At 13.6 percent, Asheville's rate was significantly higher than the nationwide rate of 4.3 percent and the statewide rate of 8.0 percent. Asheville had the highest ranking among all other metros in the state, however; Jacksonville had a higher appreciation rate, but was not ranked due to an insufficient number of transactions.
