Housing in Fargo is plentiful and largely affordable. It's probably the cheapest larger town in the state to live in. Jobs in Fargo and elsewhere in the state are also plentiful. Sanford may be interested in you MA experience. His CDL would be valuable here. I recall a concrete company in Grand Forks looking for help before I left that town. I would think Fargo needs similar. In order to transfer a drivers license into North Dakota a person will need to provide a certified (not xerox) birth certificate or valid passport. If you had a name change from the birth certificate or passport then a certified document (usually marriage license) with the new name is also needed. Also, you will need a solid winter coat. You will probably need it in April too the way this winter is going. Fargo is at or near a record number of below zero days this winter.

Look on the Sanford site. http://www.sanfordhealth.org/fargo/jobs/index.aspx

There are a lot buildings going up. He will find a job, and if he has any snap at all will probably end up being foreman. The city is growing and a lot of young people are moving and looking for a start. Leaders are a little harder to come by.

If you can get rid of pets your ability to rent will be better.

I am from East Texas, raised in south east Texas, lately from Deep East Texas. I would wait until April 1st. By then your winter clothes might be warm enough. I am looking forward to next week when we shouldn't have any mornings below zero.

I haven't noticed any RV parks but I assume they are around. Even if you had to live in the Detroit lakes area and commute for a couple of months that wouldn't be too bad in the spring, (forget winter though) I don't know but I expect a lot of apartments will open up in the downtown area in June as this is a college town and school will be out. In the south and west of the city that will not be so true as they are more of the suburb type areas.

I have found no ghettos here, although I am sure there is at least one low income area, and the huge apartment blocks near the 13th ave Walmart look unappealing to me.

If you can, live in town, Fargo is a nice well kept city. Detroit lake is the closest recreation area to the east in Minnesota, but there are other places I hope to explore.

While there are churches every 50 feet here, the town is not too up tight. It has a very high alcohol consumption per capita. It ends up being a nice place to live filled with friendly people who are not as up tight as Texans.

I don't know anyone in the construction industry here, however my upstairs neighbor is a nurse. If you want to contact me off line, I can pass your resume to her and see if she has any recommendations.

Cheers

Another question OP might not know to ask is What about flooding?

Is there a best area to be? I tried looking at city cites but it wasn't clear to me.
