I say "listen to Paul". He has helped us out in our search for a great place to live. We are now in Tunkhannock and it's wonderful. We absolutely love it here. Honesdale, Hawley, Lackawaxen are also nice. Pleasant Mount too!
We searched all over Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties until we found our home. We did get more for the money here in Wyoming County vs. Wayne and Pike County. It's not much farther either. Just about 50 min. or so. We are close to Dickson City and all the restaurants and shopping we could want. The PA Turnpike can be picked up in Clarks Summit, which is another great area. You can take the PA Turnpike down to the NJ Turnpike which is exit 6 and go into Central Jersey/the Bordentown area.
I say " do it!"

Local newspapers for the Hawley and Honesdale area would be the News Eagle and the Wayne Independent. Both have websites: neagle.com and wayneindependent.com.

Contrary to what is posted here, I travel through Hawley often and have never found it to be "congested". There are several restaurants, grocery stores, banks, etc. in town. Also, if you wanted more shopping options, your best bet would be to drive twenty minutes to Honesdale where Walmart, Home Depot, and many other options exist. Wallenpaupack's schools are all located in Hawley, and it is a great district. There is also a very nice park right in town. Hawley certainly isn't full of bars and trendy shops, but it is a beautiful, small town. From where I am located (Greentown), I have equal drive to either Honesdale or Dickson City. I much prefer Honesdale as it has much less traffic, although there are many more shopping options in DC.
