I think Mountaintop is heading in the right direction. Lots of developments going up, in fact, I think the school district up there has been thinking about building another elementary school because Rice and Fairview Elementaries can hold only so many.

Isn't the Industrial Park having vacancy problems?

The Abingtons is the best place in NEPA. In my humble opinion of course.

Why are the Abingtons any better than anywhere else in the area? The only thing that you have there as opposed to the valley is affluence. Its not a bad area, but no better than the rest of the area, despite its reputation. I actually do think Clarks Summit borough is a nice town. The surrounding townships like South Abington are a little too much of suburban sterile developments, though.

Why are new developments in a rural area (or at least, once rural) a good thing? I don't get the attraction to sterile McMansion developments, with no sidewalks, attached garages so you don't have to ever interact with your neighbors.

Its a shame watching beautiful old Victorian houses in the city on tree-lined streets rot or turn into dumpy apartment houses while everyone packs up their big SUV and builds a particle-board mansion on a cul-de-sac in Abingtons, Back Mountain, and Mountain Top.

I like The Abingtons for a bunch of reasons. A; there is an outdoors feel to the area as it is surronded by Mountains, has parks and lots of open space and most of the neighborhoods have great yards and lots of places for kids to roam in the woods, ride bikes etc.

The school district is also excellent.

I don't consider South Abington part of the equation even though it is part of "The Abingtons" If you grew up there you would know the areas i am talking about are Clark's Summit, Clark's Green, Waverly, Dalton, Glenburn, Newton and Ransom.

South Ab was always just the area on the way to Scranton. I had frineds that lived up fairview road or up Shady Lane but in oder neighborhoods. The newer developments suck and are usually built by developers from out side of the Abingtons who did not grow up there.

There is a lot more to offer in the Abingtons than particle board mansions, what ever that is.

Some of the oldest homes in the area are built there. Have you ever been to Clarks Summit or Waverly before?

I am concerned that gas drilling will ruin a lot of the northern rural areas of NEPA. That's my big worry.
