Really cool stuff, Mathjak. I looked up what you said to me last summer, and have been fooling around with some effects too, but just for fun. As you mentioned, the subject picture needs to be a real good candidate to begin with, I can see in the ones you do that rather than plain outdoor shots, you generally focus more closely on shots where there are "panels" of contrasting colors, and take it from there, especially close-ups.
Among mine, I found very few good candidates like that like that, but I did try a few and played around with them. I usually like my photos natural, as most of the ones I've posted are rail pix (on my site), I touched up several hundred a few weeks ago & re-uploaded them, but just enough to look like it was from a better camera, nothing unusual.
I really loved how you took a few of those park pix and made them look like something from a video game, so I made 3 offbeat re-do's, just for the heck of it. Very fledgling & amateurish for the most part (I wasn't going to post them), but here goes, just for fun. Thanks for the inspiration.

"Rapid City, in the woods"

weird & inconsistent, but an eerie attempt:
"South Main"

and "Public Square"
