I just had a delivery from Suburban propane and I think I am getting ripped off at $4.259 per gallon. Is this too much?

Suburban told me that the cost of propane is based the size of your tank, how much you use per season and other things. But yes, I think it is too much. Last winter they were charging me over $5 per gallon to fill my 500 gallon tank and we were customers for over 13 years. Needless to say, we dumped Suburban in the Spring. I think their prices are rediculous. I would suggest you shop around. (we had our tank filled by a local company yesterday for under $3 per gallon)

I dumped Suburban for their outrageous propane prices and when they told me they would no longer sell me a yearly furnace contract unless I started buying oil from them.

Yes, you are getting ripped off. I just had a delivery of 61 gallons from Amerigas, at a rate of 2.72. Now, this is at my primary residence in Montgomery county near King of Prussia, PA, not NEPA, but the rates should not be that different. Suppliers do charge different rates by the volume you'll buy thru the year, but $4.259 is a rip off any way you look at it, even if it's their published rate for your level of use.
Exchange on a 5 gallon grill bottle is only like $25...
