Hello everyone,
I am a 6 year special ed teacher looking to relocate, but I want to know if compensation is worth my time. Anyone know of any links or have themselves what the salary schedule is for any of the school districts out there?

The salaries in Delaware Valley are quite a bit lower than Port Jervis New York. If you were considering a move to the Milford area, I would look in the Minisink Valley School District or the City of Port Jervis school district.

My sister started working as a secondary English teacher at Pittston Area several years ago, and I believe her starting salary was around $33,000. I don't quite recall the different incremental increases from there for annual pay increase, increases based upon additional college credits earned beyond Bachelor's Degree, increases based upon prior years' experience, etc., but I'd assume you'd probably earn in the low-$40k range if you had a Bachelor's Degree and six years of experience in your field. I'll have to see if I can reach my sister and verify that. Pittston Area, from what research I've done, seems to have "average" starting salaries for teachers in the region, so I'd say that whatever answer I arrive at should be a pretty good basis for the other districts as well.

Depends where you are coming from. I came from NY and in no way is salary the same. Each district around here is different. Good luck!

I'm coming from Columbus, Ohio. But before that I taught in the Bronx. I know that there is fluxuation with moving to different regions. But by the way by the time we move I'll be have taught for 9 years and have my doctorate. Any good guesses as to salary?

Arista, you might want to call DV School District (570-296-1811) Personnel. They can give you an idea. Did you try researching on the computer? If you belong to a teaching organization and get periodicals you probably can get that information. It is very easy to get a job in the Bronx....they beg for teachers down there. Up here in the Northeast things are quite different. What matters here is who you know, that is why I highly recommend Port Jervis or Minisink - assuming that you are moving to the Milford, Matamoras area. Also, DV a couple of years back where taking folks with the least amount of credentials so they did not have to pay full salary. I taught in the PA and NY Districts 0 (not teaching now) and honestly would never go back to DV. I hear that the Scranton Districts pay well so you may want to research that. Also check the Commonwealth for certain certification. If you need the websites pm me. Good luck.
